December 3rd

Less than 6 weeks to go - including Xmas!!   If you haven’t done so already, check that you still have your practical write-ups from last year - I’ve prepared some new summary sheets to fill in, now we have a better idea of what the questions might be - so ask for them!!

November 21st

missed a week last week having too good a time…..

Right - this is YOUR exam, Your results and YOU have got to do it !!!!

So TIME TO GET SERIOUS!!!!    start in earnest NOW - only about 7 weeks to go - both cognitive and social break down into 6 components, so with a week off for Xmas, the maths is not difficult here…..

If you haven’t started learning the definitions yet, do so now - pace it adding a new one every day, and keep reviewing the ones you already know - defintions are great for really thinking about how you learn material - just looking and writing might not be enough - think about the ‘learning styles’ work you did at the begining of term, and you should have useful insights from Cognitive Psychology (otherwise we’re wasting our time!!) - if it’s passed you by, ask us again!!!

And the same principles apply to Unit 3 - so start NOW!!!!

“DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME, OR TIME WILL…   WASTE…   YOU”

Tues 10th Nov

A few takers Monday Lesson 6 -

THIS WEEK - start learning the definitions!!  Powerpoint on school website - quite ‘wordy’ so you understand what I mean - you might want to extract just the key concepts (delete wordage you don’t need). NOTE: you don’t want to learn them all at once - aim to learn 3 in one session, so that you can write them out consistently; leave for 24 hours, then see if you can still write them - if not, revise them again until you can. If you get all 3 right, add in another 2. Leave 24 hours, then test yourself on any 3 out of the 5….    etc til you know them all. (Don’t forget you’ve got to learn definitions for Unit 3 as well….).

If it was me, I’d use small cards to help here too - put the term on one side, the definition (or key ideas) on the other - have cards small enough to carry around, so you can test yourself any time (loo breaks are brill for this!!)

Next week, I’m aiming to tackle methodology - lots of overlap with Unit 3, so worth the effort….

Monday 2nd November - Revision of Unit 1 definitions available - and NOBODY came…..

Now I know you’re all busy, etc, etc, but if you want a good mark in Jan, you should be starting some work on this NOW!!!!

If I have time near the end of term, I’ll try and run the session - but I’ve put a PowerPoint you can learn the definitions from on the School website, in the Psychology Secure section, under Year 12 - go find it!!

I’ve also put 2 PowerPoints re Methodology for Unit 1 - one is an ‘handbook’ on a (big!!) PowerPoint - if you’re using Word 2007 - I’ve set up some customised shows if you just want to dip into bits of it. A lot here overlaps with the Methodology for Unit 3, which I know is somewhat shaky for many of you….

The second one is all the questions I can think of that they could ask you re methodology…   There’s a lot of them!!  Again - go find it - it’s there to help YOU revise!!!

I’m going to attempt to do something next week on Methodology - 4pm, Monday - Please look at it before you come - it’s much better if you come with problems/questions, rather than me trying to mind-read what you don’t know!
